sunday morning (nov/09)
Things are well at CMO. We changed the look of the website, and the CMO construction is nearing completion. New Hope School is approaching the 200 mark for children. New Hope English School has about 200 young adults enrolled for English classes too. The church attendance is up to around 230 or so on a typical Sunday. God is good, and we pray that we are good stewards of this awesome responsibility He has entrusted to us.

In celebration of the New Yr next week, New Hope School had a day filled with fun, water, and powder!!

The students were givin loads of (baby) powder which was ammunition for a WAR! Noone was left unscathed. Then, the water balloons were unleashed! The casualties were high, and few escaped with dry clothes. The kids (and teachers :)) had a blast.

Today, is the last class for the children until the 20th. All next week will be spent enjoying the Cambodian New Year.

The school yard of New Hope School buzzed with excitement as the students ran to the newly completed elevator. After months of  construction, the elevator  of the CMO building has been finished. To celebrate, the completion of this rennovation, the children of New Hope School get to take a ride to the top! The elevator is a great and neccessary addition to the CMO building. The church sanctuary is on the fourth floor, and the elevator will be an alternative to the stairs, especially for the elderly and those not able to climb the stairs.

A YWAM team of Christian counselors from Hawaii are currently helping CMO. They are teaching English to the children in the New Hope School, as well as helping to teach in the New Hope English school. They are also speaking at the Saturday night youth program: performing dramas, sharing testimonies and preaching the gospel. They will be serving with CMO in Phnom Penh until February 18, 2009.

We are currently undergoing a construction project, as our Cambodian Mission Outreach building receives some major renovations with the purpose of accommodating more guests, and being a greater facility that can be useful for many different functions. This construction project became crucial as the amount of New Hope English School students and church congregation increased.

The church building was originally constructed in 1994, with two levels. The first level has four classrooms for New Hope School. There are two offices, a cafeteria, restrooms, playground and a ‘rest time’ room.

The second level contains the church sanctuary, which can seat 100 people. There are five classrooms which are used for the New Hope School during the day and also for the New Hope English School.

Two more levels are being added onto the building. The second and third level will each serve the purpose of accommodating more guests. On the second level, there will be a lobby where guests can check in and out of the guest house. There will be twelve rooms where people can lodge, restrooms, a large kitchen, a hall where guests can gather. There will also be 2 small balconies.

On the third level, there will be eight rooms for guests as well as a large kitchen and restrooms. There will also be multi-purpose rooms that can be used for workshops, team meetings, conferences, etc. Fellowship can take place in a large hall that can hold 200 people.

On the fourth level is the new church sanctuary with the capacity to hold over 800 people. An elevator is also being added to the building.
